Silver Walks

If you have a short time or limited ability, you can still have enjoyment. You only need to make a start. The site is geared to all types of ability, and we have grouped them into Gold, Silver and Bronze. The activities are easily recognised by their respective colour tags.

Bronze Trips

If you're having problems due to infirmity, the Bronze activities will be right up your street. But, you are the best judge of your or your pet's capability. We all need to take more exercise, so we can live healthier lives. We also need to make sure our pets are happier too. Take the plunge and enjoy the features on this site.

Wales 2010

When Bonnie and I go to Wales next week (Tuesday 20th April 2010), I am posting photos wherever I am to my blogs. I am going to take as many photos of Bonnie enjoying herself.

To see all the blogs pick one:

Just about all pieces of equipment ready in front room for Tuesday. My total kit allows me to go off into the hills and disappear for a week. I am using 07763 061910 for my email, texts and mobile so I can keep in touch until I get back. My phone will be on all the time as I am using a solar charger.

I think you will like the blogs.

VBTTFN, John.

Great Glen Way

Inverness Tuesday 10 June 2008

Fort AugustusInverness to Drumnadrochit - The way not marked well. Instead of following the GGW  I ended up following the canal track to Dochgaroch. I crossed over the canal and walked back one mile to B?   Blackfold road. A steady climb to Blackfold. I stopped for an hour to eat lunch, 400ml boiled water + a chilli con carne “Wayfarer” packet. I continued on to Altori and met 4 walkers. I thought that the way was very obscure. There were parts that did not follow the Ordnance Survey map.

West Highland Way - Part1

The route followed will be from Milngavie (pronounced Milguy) to FortWiiliam.

West Highland Way

West Highland Way

1.    I booked a ticket on the Aberdeen to Glasgow route for £10.00. It had to be bought about 3 days before travel to get that price. Arrived in Glasgow, Queen Street Station 4pm 18 August, and made my way to Buchannan Street Bus Station asking directions on the way.

2.    The No. 10 bus from Buchannan Street takes about 45 minutes to arrive at Milngavie, but travels past the road end leading to the camp site (the driver even told me where to get off), very handy.

Milngavie StationThe train was another alternative, which stops at the end of the line at Milngavie. I tried the train on the Thursday coming back from Glasgow with some provisions. The train stops at the town centre so the only option to get to the camp site would be by foot or bus.

Walking through the town in the rain with shopping has never been fun, even if you know which way it is. I tried and got lost. I eventually found my way to the railway station again and waited for a bus. A compass is no use if you don't know where you are and have no map. If you decide to travel by train, turn right out of the station.
